Labor Roustabout Training

MAPTS Roustabout training course was added to our curriculum to address skills shortage in the labor industry. While many other sectors are experiencing job losses, the oil drilling industry is going through a growth period that has left it short of qualified staff.

MAPTS fifteen-day course is vital to introduce new recruits to the oil industry and give them the necessary skills and safety awareness to start their offshore careers as labor roustabouts.

Applicants fill out a Roustabout application packet which documents their employment and training history, outlines the applicable skills they possess, lists strengths, employment and training goals, community and volunteer work and short- and long-term career goals. A resume and references are also required. Applicants selected for training will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Each undergo a range of skills training such as rigging and slinging as well as engage in team building exercises, while totally immersed in MAPTS safety culture.

Individuals selected for training should understand that simply completing the training does not necessarily guarantee them a job. The nature of oilfield work is that it is highly cyclical and no prediction can be made as to the eventual needs of roustabout positions.
