These courses are
conducted at MAPTS Life Safety Institute
on Marathon Road in Kenai, Alaska.

Incipient
Stage, 8 Hrs.
|
|
|
Provides an
introduction to flammable liquid fire
suppression techniques as well as a
refresher for more experienced employees.
A hands-on course involving demonstrations
of fire suppression equipment and
appliances, flammable liquid and gas
properties, SCBA and smokehouse
evolutions, hand-held dry chemical drills
on two and three dimensional fires, one
and a half and two and a half hose lines
with teamwork, approach and shut-off
drills on LPG, gasoline and diesel fires,
enclosed space firefighting with SCBA and
firefighting safety. Students must be
physically able to wear SCBA's and handle
20 pound through 350 pound dry chemical
units and hose lines.

Brigade Team Member, 16 Hrs.
|
|
This course gives the
student an appreciation of the
capabilities of firefighting appliances
including 20 pound and 350 pound dry
chemical units, one and a half and two and
a half hose lines, monitors, firefighting
foam, and CO2 and Halon extinguishers on a
variety of flammable liquid fires.
Students must be physically able to wear
SCBA's and handle 20 pound and 350 pound
dry chemical units and hose lines.

Brigade Team Leader, 24 Hrs.
|
|
Designed for
supervisors, fire team leaders and fire
team trainers. Emphasizes flammable
liquids, firefighting tactics and training
methods. A variety of props are considered
and their best application to training
evolutions determined. Job safety analysis
and training strategies are developed.
Fire suppression training materials and
new products and innovations in flammable
liquids fire suppression are
reviewed.

Brigade Instructor, 24 Hrs.
|
|
This program leads to
examination and certification as an
Industrial Fire Brigade Instructor. The
course includes curriculum approved by the
International Association of Fire Service
Instructors in teaching methodology, drill
evaluation, student evaluation, safety
precautions, accident potential
recognition, job safety analysis,
professional fire suppression skills and
knowledge, and training
supervision.
